Welcome, potential bikers! You are enthusiastically invited to join the 2016 Bike for a Culture of Life Across Wisconsin. The bike trip will cover 200 miles in four days, from the Mississippi River at Onalaska (just north of LaCrosse) to Lake Michigan at Kohler-Andrae State Park (just south of Sheboygan). The ride is not particularly strenuous, covering about 50 miles each day. Riding the first two days is almost entirely on bike trails, with light grades up and down, on the LaCrosse River Trail, the Elroy-Sparta Trail, and The 400 Trail, with a few “back roads” miles at the end to bring us to Mirror Lake State Park at the close of the second day. The last two days are almost entirely back roads, lightly traveled, although there are a couple of very short stretches of highway.
There are no fees for this this trip. All meals and camping fees have been paid, and a sag wagon will accompany the trip to carry camping gear, food, and other necessary items. You will need to provide your bike, spare tube for your size of bike tire, water bottle, clothes, a sleeping bag and tent (or make arrangements to share a tent), and any snacks and personal items needed for the trip. You will also need to provide your transportation from your home to the start site in Onalaska, and from the end site at Kohler-Andrae to your home after the trip. If you need help with transportation, let us know and we may be able to help with these arrangements.
If you wish to bike, please contact Rosie at 608-558-5776 to get your name on the registration list.
